A Busy Day at CSC

This week at CSC, visiting surgeons from Singapore joined our Khmer reconstructive team to perform life-changing surgeries that restore movement and independence for patients affected by nerve damage, trauma, or stroke, particularly when nerve repair is no longer an option due to incomplete muscle recovery. The visiting and local surgeons performed advanced reconstructive procedures that involve transplanting healthy muscle from one part of the body to an area where muscles no longer function. By reconnecting functional nerves to power impaired muscles and tendons, the goal is to help patients regain mobility and independence.

Ellen, a registered nurse, and her husband Brian, an anesthesiologist, have been active volunteers at CSC since 2008. Ellen has undergraduate degrees in both Nursing and Spanish Literature, and a graduate degree in Health Management. Since 2020, Ellen has volunteered in the role of Stakeholder Relations, connecting with our generous supporters, interacting with visiting surgeons and students, and disseminating updates on Children's Surgical Centre.
