Ear, nose and throat (ENT)

The ENT department specialises in the treatment of chronic infection of the middle ear, which the World Health Organisation recognises as a neglected disease. Our all-female team includes the only Khmer surgeons in Cambodia able to perform mastoidectomy, which is used to treat a type of infection and growth of the eardrum called “cholesteatoma.” If left untreated, cholesteatoma can grow into the brain, risking death. We do not know how many Cambodians have already died of cholesteatoma.

We also repair eardrums of adults and children with chronic infection of the ear, and we surgically reconstruct the bones of hearing where these have been damaged by disease.

Our ENT team has been trained by specialists from the UK, Australia, and Singapore.
