Donations to Children’s Surgical Centre can make a real impact on the lives of others. Join us in assisting disabled Cambodians like Dim, a 47-year-old father of three from Kampong Thom province. He and his wife spend long days outside in the hot sun to grow rice for sustenance and income. In Cambodia planting, tending and harvesting is done almost exclusively by hand. Dim must work to support his family and ensure his children receive an education. In 2021 he was in an accident while driving a tractor on his farm, resulting in a dislocation of his left shoulder. With their modest income, he couldn't afford healthcare. Unfortunately, he recently tripped again and re-injured his shoulder. He used pain relievers but could not use his arm or help his wife in the rice paddies. A relative informed him about the free or low-cost care available to disabled Cambodians at Children’s Surgical Centre. Three weeks ago, surgeons at CSC stabilized his shoulder where bone damage had occurred after his traumatic dislocation, used a bone graft to restore bone loss, and performed a tendon transfer to provide a “sling” to treat his shoulder instability. Dim's life is set to improve as he eagerly anticipates returning to work on the farm to ease his wife's workload and support his family. Returning to work helps Cambodians like Dim reduce the financial burden on themselves and their families.
