Campaign description:
From 28th of September to the 4th of October 2025 I will be competing in a 250km ultra marathon across the wildest areas of the Peloponnese in Greece, raising funds for the Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) in Cambodia. Also joining me on the adventure will be my great mate and legend Andy Reynolds, so in combination we should be able to provide one good brain, two good legs, and a strong thirst for the finish line.

The Greek Odyssey will take us on trails, weaving through olive groves, along the sea, through hidden ravines, and climbing to reach stunning views of mountains, rolling countryside and the Aegean Sea. To add some extra challenge the race is self supported, so we will be carrying all our provisions, clothes and equipment for the week, albeit (hopefully) the tents will be set up and waiting at the end of each stage.
I have been raising funds for the CSC since 2010, when I foolishly agreed to run / limp across 250km of the wild north of Western Australia. It was brutal and I swore never again. So 11 events and 2250km later I am back for one last event (again).
I have visited Cambodia, Jim and the CSC team a couple of times and it has made a deep impression on myself and my family. The work and story is inspiring, from it’s beginnings helping victims of landmine injuries, into what is now, a teaching hospital with over 100 Cambodian staff performing free or low cost surgery for economically disadvantaged patients.
Visiting the CSC was both humbling and a privilege. As well as offering Cambodians access to life changing surgery, they train Khmer surgeons and staff, and provide an opportunity to work with international surgeons and other volunteers from all over the world. This helps develop local skills and knowledge that contribute to long term improvements in healthcare across the country.
The aim is to raise $3,000 to go towards funding the life changing treatments provided at the CSC. Many of the patients who come to the CSC cannot afford healthcare and so any money you can donate will go a long way towards them receiving the care which they need.
Because of the new CSC donor system, you will be able to get updates on the staff and/or patients which you have helped with your money.

Hello, my name is David and I have been raising funds for the CSC since 2010. I have had the pleasure of visiting Cambodia and the CSC on a couple of occasions with my family and it made a huge impression on us. After a long career in Banking in Europe and Asia, I now work as a Behavioural Risk consultant in London. I am married to Sharon, with one son, William. Two thirds of us are avid Derby County fans.
