For those who need it most..

A commentary on her experience from one of our volunteers, Isabella, who just finished spending 3 months at CSC.

I spent the past three months at CSC and loved every aspect of my experience. From sitting in on the morning meetings, doing rounds, observing the consults, and watching surgeries, there was never a dull moment. CSC provides crucial healthcare to those who need it the most. During my time at CSC, every surgery I witnessed was life-changing for the patients, whether it be an orthopaedic, plastic, or ENT surgery. The collaborative and supportive environment at CSC makes anyone feel welcome, regardless of whether you have a medical background. As a non-medic myself, one of my biggest worries before arriving at CSC was: "what is my purpose here? Will I understand any of the medical lingo?" While at times it was more difficult to follow step-by-step the procedures being carried out, both the foreign and Khmer staff were eager to help me understand what was happening on the O.R. and what results we were hoping to achieve from the surgeries. I was able to make great friends among the staff and excited to continue following the incredible work that CSC carries out. While my time in Cambodia may be over, I am hoping I will be able to continue contributing to CSC's vital work by encouraging people to donate to CSC, as CSC's donation platform is so unique and personalized. Becoming a CSC member and donating allows you to have full transparency on how your donation is being utilized. This includes information about the specific patient your donation is being used for, the surgery it is funding, why this procedure is necessary for the patient, and what the anticipated outcome of the surgery is. Being a part of the CSC community has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and so I really hope you consider donating!
