On 17 March 2026, the Children’s Surgical Center (CSC) in Phnom Penh marked World Oral Health Day with an activity in collaboration with the University of Puthisastra.
Dental students and CSC staff welcomed patients and families at the center. Some came for treatment, while others joined to learn. People sat together, listened, and asked simple questions about how to care for their teeth.
The team shared easy tips, like brushing properly, choosing healthy food, and visiting a dentist early. Students also spoke one-on-one with patients, showing them small but important habits. Toothbrushes and toothpaste were also given to patients to help them continue care at home.
Some patients said they usually wait until they feel pain before seeing a dentist. Others said they did not know how often to brush. These moments showed why this kind of learning is important.
Oral health affects daily life. Pain can make it hard to eat, speak, or sleep. With simple care, many problems can be prevented.
At CSC, care also means helping people understand how to stay healthy. This work continues with the support of partners and donors.
We are grateful for the collaboration with the University of Puthisastra.
