Safety First for Eye Staff

This past week, Dr. Adrian Kwa from Nottingham, England, generously spent the first week of his three-week annual leave at CSC to support our anesthesia services in Eye Surgery. He dedicated much of his time to refining the local anesthesia blocks used for cataract surgery, implementing techniques that are not only equally—or even more—effective and reliable but also significantly safer for our patients.

In addition to his work in anesthesia, Dr. Kwa focused on fostering a team culture that prioritizes patient safety. He led activities aimed at preventing errors, reducing harm, and improving patient outcomes.

Here's what Dr. Kwa had to say about our Eye Team:

"CSC provides excellent surgical services for the financially disadvantaged section of the Cambodian population. The staff is passionate, enthusiastic, and always striving to do better. Despite the limited resources, CSC still offers a wide range of services—ophthalmology, orthopedics, ENT, and plastic surgery—at minimal or no cost to the patient. We hope to enhance teamwork among staff, improve patient safety, and make CSC an institution the staff can be proud of."

Thank you, Dr. Kwa, for choosing to spend your vacation with us. We look forward to welcoming you back next year!
