A Nurse Teaching, A Team Growing

Ruth M., a retired U.S. nurse, moved to Cambodia with her husband after retirement and has spent the past year volunteering twice a week at CSC. She works alongside Cambodian nurses in the post-operative ward and the dressing and wound care room, supporting patients through recovery by monitoring healing, managing dressings, and providing compassionate post-surgical care.

A central focus of Ruth’s work is teaching. She shares practical wound care techniques, infection-prevention practices, and post-op nursing skills with younger nurses, helping build confidence and knowledge. Her mentorship strengthens CSC’s commitment to sustainable, high-quality nursing care that will continue into the future.

Ruth reflects, “I learn as much as I teach from the Cambodian staff. I am touched by their dedication to patients, their kindness, and their ‘can-do’ attitude.”
